Paula Broadwell, General David Petraeus' mistress, may have used her ties to Petraeus to promote a new lightweight machine gun for a defense contractor.
Danielle Brian, executive director of the Project On Government Oversight, said political influence should have no place in federal contracting.
"It's an uneven playing field. That is not how a contract should be decided," Brian said.

"in addition to the book and the sex Paula Broadwell's connection to General Petraeus provided another benefit." i guess that assumes the sex was beneficial...

As bad as this situation is, it pales in comparison to the amount of money wasted legally by US defense contractors. Hell, look at the F-35 program. Right now, its development costs are projected to be $60 Billion (with a 'B'). And of that $60 billion, Lockheed is going to make $6 billion free and clear despite their absolute incompetence in every phase of this program. Even if one of these women made $80 million off their relationship with one of these generals, they are still only wasting 1/1000th of what Lockheed is wasting in the F-35 program.
