POGO will revisit the ever-important subject of waste, fraud, and abuse in Pentagon contracting this Thursday, March 29, in a panel discussion held by the Open Society Foundation. The event will go from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., at OSI-Washington, DC.
In addition to POGO’s recent interviewee William Hartung, POGO Executive Director Danielle Brian and the Center for Public Integrity’s R. Jeffery Smith will be speaking and spreading insight on the state of transparency and accountability in military contracting. The Open Society Foundations’ Lora Lumpe will moderate.
The panel will mostly focus on Hartung’s book, Prophets of War: Lockheed Martin and the Making of the Military-Industrial Complex, and will examine the Pentagon's dense ties with the defense industry and why this military-industrial complex still exists. To learn more about Hartung’s work, you can read last month’s POGO interview.
To brainstorm solutions with the panel, swing by OSI-Washington, DC. tomorrow at 9:00 a.m.
Melanie Kaufman is a POGO intern.
