Hi tr --

Converting the highly enriched uranium into low enriched uranium—which could be sold to nuclear power plants around the world—would not require construction of new facilities. Check out our report for more details!

Claiming the sale or Uranium as a revenue stream seems inconsistent with the no nuclear mantra that has been so prevalent for decades. Is Rep Markey ready to fund the necessary facility to change the enriched Uranium into fuel and build the necessary plants to use the same fuel? Without those key parts of the commodity cycle his plan falls apart. Is he expecting private parties take enriched Uranium, suitable for weapons, and convert it as a for profit business? I will need to see way more detail in the proposal before I can urge my delegation to support it
