Transparency International brings hopeful tidings for would-be whistleblowers from across the pond: the Council of Europe (CoE) Parliamentary Assembly has unanimously adopted a whistleblower protection resolution.
The resolution acknowledges the importance of whistleblowers in stopping wrongdoing and recognizes threats that whistleblowers are sure to face. Furthermore, it invites each member state to review its own whistleblower legislation.
It’s a small victory for whistleblowers and advocates everywhere—and it’s nice to see CoE advance the ball on whistleblower protections. Read the resolution here and the statements of parliamentarians here.
