If President Obama is dragging his feet on some nominations and is letting some Bush appointees hang around awhile, I'd suggest he consider allowing the Pentagon's Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics to stay on for a while. John Young has been unusually tough and honest in saying no to the juggernaut of defense contractors, the military services and their congressional enablers. Let's keep our fingers crossed he can hold firm against them with the upcoming F-22 decision.

Young is a confused man. Sure, he slams F-22 and CSAR-X (he's wrong, there is a need - AF Pave Hawks are getting ragged out, esp. in Afghanistan) but then he turns around gives the DDG 1000 a big sloppy french kiss, even while the Navy is trying to cut the program to buy things they actually use (like, oh I don't know, amphibious ships).
