Blowing the Whistle Protects the Public Fisc

Want to know why health care costs are out of this world?  Here's one big reason: health care fraud.  Fortunately, whistleblowers are doing their part to resolve the problem.  According to a recent news story, "Whistle-blowers helped authorities recover at least $9.3 billion from health care providers accused of defrauding states and the federal government, according to an analysis of Justice Department records."  Many whistleblowers are also behind the more than $20 billion in fraud recoveries since 1986.

For years, POGO has witnessed retaliation against whistleblowers, including those who are helping to expose fraud in the health care industry.  In far too many cases, agencies and companies decide to investigate the employee who exposes corruption, rather than focusing on the substantive issues being raised.  Whistleblowers have been silenced, threatened, and terminated--many risking personal and professional relationships and their livelihoods in order to protect the public's interest.  Despite pending legislative efforts, more needs to be done to protect government and contractor employees who attempt to right wrongs and protect taxpayer dollars.

I just posted the attached on the GAP website which is a direct answers to your last sentence '.....more needs to be done....'. I have not had a moment to re-read and proof read what I have posted. Hopefully POGO will allow me to make any substaintail corrections and/or further clarificatrions to this attached Article as required and/or at my request.

As the passage and implementation authorization of the Consumer Product Safety Protection Act has now seemingly been fully approved and finalized and the impression from this Article of inadequate FDA Standards, yet there is no mention as to where to file these seemingly very clear allegations of criminal negligence and/or serious immediate criminal investigation to seemingly clear and convincing lack of proper and forthright oversight and accountability. Is the implication of this Article also to imply that even though our US Country now has the Consumer Safety and Protection Act plus the accomodated implied Whistleblower implications, yet we as Americans and our US Businesses with International Food products have no US Government Entity ot US Attorney to report these serious allegations of seemingly criminal negligence and lack of proper and forthright oversight and accountability and therfore would be presumed to have no Whistleblower protections.

I would presume that GAP, POGO and the NWC would like to hope for the successful resolution this month to the Impeachment hearings within our US Congressional Judiciary Committee and especially with the Impeachment and successful prosecution of all those who have seemingly almost completely and successfully destroyed and subverted our US Democracy and our proper and forthright due process legal system our US Justice Department which where intrusted and headed by John Ashcroft, Gonzales and Mulkasey. It appears clear and convincing that Ashcroft, Gonzales and Mulkasey did not uphold our US Constitution and Democracy with the expected Fidelity, Bravery and Integrity that is expected and required and retaliated, ostrasized and persecuted against those whom dare to uphold our US Constitution and Democracy.

I would hope to expect that at this important time in our Democracy that GAP, POGO and the NWC would hold these violations of our Executive Branch and including the alleged serious anti-democratic and criminal Hatch Act violations of our US Executive Branch presidential and vice-presidential offices and especially the Department of Justice Branch to be immediately held accountable and to testify at these US Congressional Judicary Committee Executive Branch Power and Its Limitations Hearing.

Also and importantly, please allow me to mention as Presidential Candidate John McCain appeared on the David Letterman television show before the Iraq war and ststed with implication as to the impending Iraq war with knowledge he is holding in secret. In view of the compelling Testimony at the 8/30/2008 US Congressional Judicary Executive Power and Its Limitations Hearing and hopefully the immediate subsequent supeonas as I have mentioned that John McCain be immediately supeoned as the Testimony and documents clearly state that ALL!! and the dozens of our US Intelligence Agencys reported that Iraq was not a threat to our US Country. It may and/or seemingly would be important to have John McCain state and explain what he knew and when did he know it and from whom and how many di he speak with on this subject and when did he hear it and what where those conversations prior to then illegal Iraq war.

Even though I and as I assume all people are concerned with poisened food, faulty or missing Aircraft parts and a many other discrepiencies or criminal negligence that clearly and convincingly would hopefully allow for proper and forthright Oversight and Accountability = Whistleblowers if needed would be able to give to the support to the mention of our US Federal Whistleblowers, especially including Sibel Edmonds, Valerie Plame and Jesslyn Radack and the many others and (including former Governor Seigleman) whom to this day continue to suffer the henious and hedious retaliation and abuse from this US Executive Branch clear, convincing and documented abuse of power to clearly and convincingly seemingly successfully substantiate and affirm forthright and proper supeona and prosecution.

Hopefully at this important time in our Democracy GAP, POGO and the NWC and our MSM, Main Stream Media CBS, NBC and ABC and especailly our US SENATORIAL AND CONGRESSIONAL LEGISLATURES will more proper and forthrightly accommodate our US Federal Workforce Heros whom have executed their job in the workplace TO THE HIGHEST STANDARD OF FIDELITY, BRAVERY AND INTEGRITY to allow for the immediate passage of the immediate passage and implementation of the FEDERAL WHISTLEBLOWER PROTECTION ACT and the successful immediate Impeachment endeavors to be begin and for the serious Hatch Act violations by our US Executive Branch of our Government Leaders that have devastated and comprimsed our US Justice Department and our Legal System and Democracy to take an immediate front and center approach from our US Senatorial and Congressional Leaders and especially within these and hopefully successful for supeona and prosecution of those within our Executive Branch of our US Government within these Executive Power limitations and Impeachment Hearing endeavors in our US Congressional judicary Committee.
