Nothing to see here folks, just the same old ballooning budget for faulty weapon systems. Last week we caught wind of more problems with the V-22 Osprey including its propensity to catch fire from leaking hydraulic fluid. Thanks to the latest Selected Acquisition Report, this week we learn that its budget has jumped in upwards of about $2.5 billion. With the latest increase, the V-22 estimated total budget is now $50.5 billion for 458 aircraft. In the program's base year--1986--it was estimated that the V-22 program would cost $29.7 billion for 913 V-22s. The per unit cost has shot up from $33 million a piece in 1986 to $110 million per vehicle today. (All amounts in 2004 dollars.)
YEA! let just keep building the Hueys which can be shot down with a slingshot. I also think the Wright brothers should have given up after they were told it wouldn't work, RIGHT! Hey! Some one there go tell NASA to stop spending $4 billion per launch on that outdate shuttle thing too. What the heck do we need to go into space for anyway? I'm done for now. I don't own a cave or a dinosaur and neither has anyone else or over 10,000 years as far as I can tell.
