SpaceX's Dragon capsule landed successfully today proving that privately designed and built craft can be created faster, cheaper, and better than those designed and built with public funds. SpaceX has a contract to launch 12 rockets to the space station for a total cost of $1.6 billion. That's 12 rockets built and launched for nearly the same price as one launch of the space shuttle. But hey, let's never stop our government from paying their contractors $1.10 or more for every $1.00 they spend doing anything, because that kind of contracting is working out so damn well for the contractors. And after all, that's what's really important.
