Rep. Davis Returns to His "Corporate Roots"

As was widely reported yesterday, Rep. Tom Davis (R-VA) has made it way all the way around the revolving door Monopoly board, and will now be passing Go and collecting a $1.5 million salary at Deloitte Consulting.

During his 14 years in Congress, Davis was no stranger to contractors, so it comes as little surprise that he'll be returning to what he calls his “corporate roots” (prior to being elected chairman of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, Davis was general counsel for technology contractor PRC, Inc.).  However, we were somewhat surprised to hear Davis's take on his post-government plans: “This is not a revolving door for me...I am basically doing what I did before I went into government.”  So traveling all the way through the revolving door is the same thing as not going through the revolving door at all?  That's certainly news to us.

We'll be keeping a close eye on Davis's successor, Gerry Connolly, whose history with the contracting industry has been well documented.

KSBR sweating

True to form, POGO never misses an oppty to hit a favorite target. However, Mr. Davis puts a bright, blinking red and white target light on his head by asserting his move is not one of the "revolving door." To make it at Deloitte, he knows as well as anyone that he needs to ratchet down the BS and live more on smarts than posturing. Welcome back, Tom.
