McCaskill and Grassley to the Rescue

Senators McCaskill (known hereabouts as Saint Claire) and Grassley (the watchdog's watchdog) have just introduced legislation to amend the bailout bill to make clear that the Special IG appointed to provide oversight and accountability for the $700 billion program has all the authority he needs to accomplish his mission despite the ever-changing nature of the program.  Word is it's hotlined for Senate passage tonight.

We urge Congress in the strongest possible terms to pass this necessary bill before they adjourn for the year.

UPDATE: The Special IG amendment can be viewed here.

Axel

"....has all the authority...' would appear to mandate that HR985 the FEDERAL EMPLOYEE WHISTLEBLOWER PROTECTION RESTORATION ACT 2008 would have to included the intended Legislation !!
