A satirical list of “Advance Contracting Techniques” (pdf) has made its way to the POGO desks and we thought it’d be fun to share with those who love acronyms as much as we do. This list contains such goodies as:
- CPGS- Cost Plus a Good Screwing: “This contract form uses very high overhead, G&A and fee, with a triple no-risk 15% incentive fee plus award fee."
- CPGW- Cost Plus Get Well: “Common form of CPFF contract, wherein the contractor recovers all profits lost from previous FFP efforts.” [don’t they do this anyway?]
- CPOCC- Cost Plus Overhead Center Charge: “The contractor wins the CPFF award by bidding a 70% overhead rate. Shortly after contract initiation, the company reorganizes and the project is moved to a 200% overhead center."
Unfortunately, we have no idea who wrote this list, and in all likelihood, it was probably first circulated 10 years ago, re-circulated 5 years ago, and now here we are trying to pass it off as fresh. A quick warning, this is one of those things that will be hilarious to those who “get it” and will draw blank stares from the other 92% of the population (and if they’ve gotten this far, they probably already figured that out).
